Solo recital

Martin Šulc's solo recital will guide you through the history of music and the instrument itself. The concert program includes pieces from the Baroque period, as well as original compositions by Czech and foreign authors and accordionists. Let yourself be absorbed by the colorfulness of a musical instrument such as the accordion and get to know it in a way you could not have imagined. Although the accordion is a relatively powerful musical instrument, it can express very inner, even meditative moods.

Czech AccordionEnsemble is a unique ensemble founded at the Prague Conservatory by accordion virtuoso Ladislav Horák. Its members are the best performers of the young generation - Martin Šulc, winner of the international television show Virtuosos 4+, Andrea Šulcová, a student at the Prague Conservatory, and Filip Kratochvíl, laureates of international music competitions. The ensemble has performed at festivals in our country and abroad, such as Klášterecké hudebný prameny, Kultura v srdci Prague, Nová hudba na družbu (Munich, Nuremberg), International Accordion Days in Prague, Concert for the Anniversary of J. Plečnik at Prague Castle, Benefit Concert of NF Zdeňka Žádníková, etc. It has inspired the creation of new compositions, which it has premiered (S. Hippe, H. Becker, P. Trojan, J. Bezděk, M. Cimbál).

"Violinist Daniel Matejča and accordionist Martin Šulc will present the music of Astor Piazzolla, the composer who transformed Argentine tango from dance music into concert art. The program will guide listeners through the development of tango from its roots in the streets of Buenos Aires to its modern concert form - the famous suite Histoire du Tango, the dramatic Suite del Ángel, and the iconic compositions Oblivion, Ave Maria, and the energetic Escualo will be performed. Piazzolla's music combines the passion of tango with inspiration from classical music, counterpoint, and jazz, creating a unique world full of emotions, rhythm, and virtuosity."

"If Václav Trojan had traveled to America, he would be a famous composer of film melodies today, like John Williams or Hans Zimmer." This is how leading Czech artists describe Václav Trojan's work. Václav Trojan worked closely with puppeteer and film director Jiří Trnka on puppet films, such as The Emperor's Nightingale, Prince Bajaja, or A Midsummer Night's Dream... Václav Trojan loved the accordion and to this day his compositions are among the most valuable treasures of world accordion music. Trojan attempted to combine three completely disparate instruments - the accordion, violin and guitar and the best performers of these instruments of that time - M. Zelenka, B. Bláha and A. Mádl. Thanks to this attempt, these artists interpreted Trojan's compositions at EXPO 58 in Brussels. Many Czech composers then dedicated their works to this group. The suites Prince of Bajaja and The Emperor's Nightingale belong to the repertoire of the trio Ludmila Pavlová, Martin Cába and Martin Šulc.
