Once upon a time

"Music has been connected to nature for us since time immemorial. The sounds of the forest echo in the wooden boards of the violin and guitar, the movement of the wind then circulates in the veins of the accordion. Such is our composition, playing music that was created by nature and that reflects it in the compositions written for this group. Václav Trojan's compositions tell fairy tales. In the story of Prince Bajaj, we try to show that it does not matter the origin of each of us, but rather mutual cooperation and the courage to do seemingly impossible things in the way we love, just like when Prince Bajaj tries at the end of the story to kill the three-headed dragon for his princess, who wakes up from a deep sleep. The Emperor's Nightingale, in the story of a boy who had to obey the strict rules of his guardians and dreamed all night about the singing of a nightingale that is not bound by any rules, carries a message about renouncing material and soulless things. in favor of the natural and spiritual ones. When we interpret such music, we try not only to imitate the nightingale, but to identify with it and sing with our instruments as if we ourselves were the bird with gold in its throat. This approach to compositions accompanies us on our musical journey whenever we play a piece and try to convey this feeling and idea to the audience itself."
Václav Trojan
"If Václav Trojan had traveled to America, he would be a famous composer of film melodies today, like John Williams or Hans Zimmer." This is how leading Czech artists describe Václav Trojan's work. Václav Trojan worked closely with puppeteer and film director Jiří Trnka on puppet films, such as The Emperor's Nightingale, Prince Bajaja, or A Midsummer Night's Dream... Václav Trojan loved the accordion and to this day his compositions are among the most valuable treasures of world accordion music. Trojan attempted to combine three completely disparate instruments - the accordion, violin and guitar and the best performers of these instruments of that time - M. Zelenka, B. Bláha and A. Mádl. Thanks to this attempt, these artists interpreted Trojan's compositions at EXPU58 in Brussels. Many Czech composers then dedicated their works to this group.

To z nich dělá výjimečně sdělné a umělecky opravdové těleso. Zasazení do atmosféry zámku bylo dramaturgicky velmi šťastné a publikum odcházelo spokojeno."
